The simple version
These rules protect guests, performers, merchants, animals, and staff. Entry is always subject to inspection and the final judgment of VikingFest security.
Firearms of any kind are prohibited on the event grounds, regardless of permits or licenses. This includes open and concealed carry.
Attendees may not carry live-steel swords, axes, knives, or similar items—even when peace-tied. Only approved cast, actors, or security personnel with the appropriate credentials may carry authorized items.
Foam and boffer replicas are permitted when they meet festival safety standards. Every prop is subject to inspection at entry and may be refused if staff determine it presents a risk.
Empty sheaths may be worn as part of a costume. No steel weapon or other prohibited item may be placed inside them.
Live-steel items purchased from an approved merchant must be taken directly to your vehicle. Check with the gate team first so your departure and reentry can be handled smoothly.
Security will inspect props and suspicious items at entry and may conduct credential checks inside the festival. Prohibited items must be returned to your vehicle. Refusal to cooperate may result in removal from the grounds.
When in doubt, leave the item at home or contact the team before the festival.
